Local “Buy Nothing” Facebook Group makes sharing easier

June 20th, 2019 Comments off

Buy Nothing. Give Freely. Share creatively.

That’s the mantra of a new Facebook group dedicated to building community by sharing with your neighbours.

The “Buy Nothing Uplands/Mooney’s Bay” group is for residents living South and East of the Rideau River/Limebank Road and West of the Airport Parkway and North of the Ottawa International Airport. Residents can give and receive, share and lend items that are no longer getting any love. It is part of a worldwide network of hyper-local gift economies … which is a fancy way of saying it is a nice way of regifting unwanted items and, well, being “neighbourly.”
