On Wednesday 8 May 2024 the Riverside Park Community Association, pursuant to article 9 of its bylaws, will hold a special general meeting of members, in person and online, to consider an extraordinary motion to waive the requirement for a financial audit for this fiscal year. Article 9.4 of our bylaws requires an audit of our financial statements every five years.
Should such an audit not be performed, there are also now obligations under the Ontario Non-Profit Corporations Act. The cost of this audit would be well over $2,000. As our financial affairs and statements are straightforward and our carefully reviewed by our Treasurer almost every month at our public Community Meetings as well as at our annual meeting of members, The RPCA Board of Directors ask that you participate in the 8 May members meeting, and consider supporting the motion that follows:
Motion
The members of the Riverside Park Community Association, taking note of the requirements of Article 9 of its bylaws and by extraordinary resolution under the Ontario Not-for-Profit Corporations Act, Hereby waives the requirements of its bylaws and the aforementioned Act for an audit or review engagement for the fiscal year ending 31 July 2024.
