Tree clearing at Walkley and Airport Parkway

The City is proceeding with the construction of the Walkley road segment from the new roundabout to the LRT station including the new Airport Parkway southbound off ramp.

To get ready for construction this summer, trees will be cleared at the northwest quadrant of Walkley and Airport Parkway.

The tree clearing work is planned to start in mid-March. It is expected to last 5-10 days.

Tree clearing in the area highlighted with orange lines is to facilitate the future ramp construction.

In the area outlined by blue lines, only dead trees and the aggressive invasive buckthorns will be cleared.

Is there a new plan for the roundabout?
When this was drawn it included plans for only one lane of traffic going westbound. (I think with provincial changes the bike lanes and lane reductions are no longer being planned)

Yes. Councillor Brockington will have City staff provide a briefing to the community at Wednesday evening’s Board meeting. The announcement will be posted shortly.
