Riverside Drive Resurfacing

Riverside Drive will be getting a facelift this spring, with paving and curb work set to begin in early May.

Councillor Riley Brockington reached out to us to share the following information:

With the current reduced traffic volumes the contractor has requested approval from the City to temporarily lift the peak-hour traffic restrictions in the contract, this would only last until normal traffic volumes return. The contractor is planning to start with concrete curb and sidewalk work during the daytime hours at Riverside Dr and Walkley Rd, and progress in the southbound direction with milling and paving operations to follow.

With the approved temporary amendment the contractor plans to work from 7am – 7pm, later on in the project and once normal traffic volumes return the contractor has indicated they have also applied for a noise by-law exemption in order to have an overnight shift (7pm – 6am).

A – Riverside from Hunt Club and Walkley

  • Northbound
    • No travel lane reductions weekdays between 6:00am and 9:30am.
    • Maintain a minimum of one lane at all other times.
    • Single direction closures possible (maintain one lane of traffic per direction on the opposite side of the roadway) from Friday at 7:00pm to Monday at 6:00am.
  • Southbound
    • No travel lane reductions weekdays between 3:00pm and 7:00pm
    • Maintain a minimum of one lane at all other times.
    • Single direction closures possible (maintain one lane of traffic per direction on the opposite side of the roadway) from Friday at 7:00pm to Monday at 6:00am
  • Northbound and Southbound cannot be closed simultaneously.

Two Base Lifts of Asphalt must be complete prior to Sept 2

Conditions after September 2nd:

  • No lane reductions are permitted weekdays between 6:00am and 7:00pm

B – Hunt Club Rd

  • No travel lane reductions between 6:00am and 8:00pm.
  • Maintain a minimum of two lanes in each direction at all other times.
  • Must always maintain WB-20 truck turning movements from westbound Hunt Club Rd to Northbound Riverside Dr.

C – Walkley Rd

  • No travel lane reductions between 6:00am and 8:00pm.
  • Maintain a minimum of one lane in each direction at all other times.
